Description

If you love crispy, flaky, and sweet pastries, then Honey Almond Baklava Triangles are going to become your new favorite dessert!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 sheets phyllo dough (thawed if frozen)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
  • 1 cup almonds, finely chopped
  • ½ cup walnuts, finely chopped
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg

Honey Syrup:

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Garnish:

  • Sliced almonds

Instructions

  1. Begin by taking a mixing bowl and combining the finely chopped almonds and walnuts with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. This mixture is the heart of your baklava.
  2. Next, you’ll want to prepare your phyllo dough. Carefully lay out one sheet of phyllo on your clean surface and brush it generously with melted butter.
  3. Once your six layers are ready, it’s time to add the nut mixture. Spoon a generous amount of the nut mixture over the prepared phyllo base.
  4. Place your assembled triangles on the greased baking sheet, making sure they are spaced apart.
  5. While your baklava is baking, you’ll want to prepare the sweet honey syrup. In a small saucepan, combine honey, water, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
  6. After removing your baklava triangles from the oven, drizzle the warm honey syrup generously over the hot pastries.

Notes

Make sure to store baklava in an airtight container to maintain its crispy texture.
