Instructions
- Begin by taking a mixing bowl and combining the finely chopped almonds and walnuts with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. This mixture is the heart of your baklava.
- Next, you’ll want to prepare your phyllo dough. Carefully lay out one sheet of phyllo on your clean surface and brush it generously with melted butter.
- Once your six layers are ready, it’s time to add the nut mixture. Spoon a generous amount of the nut mixture over the prepared phyllo base.
- Place your assembled triangles on the greased baking sheet, making sure they are spaced apart.
- While your baklava is baking, you’ll want to prepare the sweet honey syrup. In a small saucepan, combine honey, water, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
- After removing your baklava triangles from the oven, drizzle the warm honey syrup generously over the hot pastries.
