A twist on classic sloppy joes, served on garlicky, cheesy bread for an unforgettable meal!

- 1 loaf Italian bread
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 pound ground beef
- ¼ cup yellow onion, chopped
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- ¾ cup ketchup
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- Parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice the loaf of Italian bread lengthwise and place it cut-side up on the baking sheet. In a bowl, mix softened butter with garlic salt and spread over the bread.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onions until browned. Drain excess grease. Add garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, kosher salt, black pepper, and water. Stir and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture over the garlic bread, cover with shredded mozzarella and sharp cheddar cheese. Bake for 12-14 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with chopped parsley, slice into pieces, and serve warm.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños to the meat mixture.
