Description
There’s something about a mojito that captures the essence of summer fun…
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 fresh mint leaves, plus more for garnish
- 1/2 lime, cut into 4 wedges
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar (or to taste)
- 2 oz white rum
- 1/2 cup club soda
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Start by placing your 10 fresh mint leaves into a sturdy glass. Add 2 lime wedges to the glass, followed by 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar. Using a muddler, gently press and twist to release the flavorful juices from the lime and the essential oils from the mint leaves. This process not only infuses the cocktail with flavors but also enhances the aroma.
- Once you’ve muddled the initial ingredients, add the remaining lime wedges into the glass. Muddle gently once more to ensure all lime juices are extracted and well mixed with the mint and sugar. This additional muddling will deepen the citrus essence of your mojito.
- Fill the glass with a generous amount of ice cubes to chill the cocktail. Gradually pour 2 oz of refreshing white rum over the ice. The coolness from the ice and the potency of the rum make for an ideal base for the mojito.
- Complete your mojito by topping the mixture with 1/2 cup of club soda. Stir the drink gently using a stirring stick or spoon to combine all the flavors without losing the effervescence of the soda. Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness with more sugar if needed.
- Finally, garnish your mojito with a fresh sprig of mint and an extra lime wedge. Serve immediately while cold, and enjoy its refreshing taste.
Notes
Consider using fresh mint and limes for the best flavor. Make sure ice cubes are fresh to avoid off-flavors.
