Instructions

- Whisk together buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to your dry ingredients, stirring gently.
- Mix in boiling water and black food coloring until smooth.
- Divide batter among prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
- Prepare frosting and assemble the cake, layering with blackberry preserves.
