Description

Recreate your favorite restaurant dish at home with these Mini Air Fryer Blooming Onions, perfectly crunchy and delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 small onions
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • Cooking spray or oil mist
  • Ranch or other dipping sauce

Instructions

  1. Begin by peeling the onions, taking care not to cut too deeply. Slightly trim the roots while ensuring the base remains intact, an essential step to create the clustering petals. Using a sharp knife, slice each onion into eight wedges, making sure you don’t cut through the base.
  2. Prepare the seasoned flour by mixing the all-purpose flour with paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until smooth. Coat each onion petal in the egg mixture, then dredge in the seasoned flour.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Place the coated onions in the basket and lightly spray them with oil. Cook for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Serve hot with ranch or spicy mayo dip.

Notes

Ensure the onions are well-patted dry before coating for better adherence of flour and egg mixtures.
