Ingredients
Scale
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 3 large eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line pie plate with crust, crimp edges, and blind bake until golden brown if desired.
- In a medium saucepan, combine melted butter, sugar, cocoa, and flour. Whisk for a smooth mixture.
- Gradually whisk in the beaten eggs and milk. Cook over medium heat until mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour filling into cooled pie crust and refrigerate for at least two hours.
- Serve chilled with whipped cream, ice cream, or berries.
Notes
Ensure all pie crust edges are sealed to prevent leaking during chilling. Constant stirring of the chocolate mixture prevents lumps.
