Description
One-Pan Butter Parmesan Pasta epitomizes comfort food, combining creamy textures and cheesy goodness in a single pan for easy preparation.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1½ cups dry ditalini pasta
- 3 tablespoons salted butter (use 4 for extra richness)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2½–3 cups chicken broth
- ⅓ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese (plus extra for topping)
- Optional: red pepper flakes, chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Begin by heating olive oil in your pan over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and gently sauté it for about 30 seconds, or until it becomes fragrant. Be cautious not to brown the garlic as it can become bitter, altering the dish’s flavor.
- Stir in the dry ditalini pasta, ensuring it is well coated with the garlic-infused oil. This step enhances the flavor throughout the pasta, creating a more robust taste once the dish is completed.
- Next, pour in enough chicken broth to cover the pasta thoroughly, along with the salt and black pepper. Allow this mixture to come to a boil. Once boiling, cover the pan and reduce the heat to a simmer, cooking for about 9–10 minutes. Check to ensure the pasta is cooked to your desired doneness — some broth should remain in the pan.
- Uncover the pan and stir in the heavy cream, allowing it to cook for an additional minute. Remove the pan from the heat, then add in the butter and parmesan. Stir until the butter is completely melted and parmesan is incorporated into the creamy mixture. Season to taste and add optional chili flakes or herbs if desired.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use more butter and parmesan. Adjust creaminess by altering the amount of heavy cream. If sauce is too thick, add a splash of chicken broth to reach desired consistency.
