Description

Puff Pastry with Brie, Cranberries, and Toasted Walnuts is a delightful holiday treat that anyone can create in no time. Imagine buttery, flaky pastry wrapped around creamy Brie cheese, complemented by the sweetness of dried cranberries, the crunch of toasted walnuts, and a hint of honey — all within 30 minutes! This dish brings a sophisticated touch to your gatherings without requiring extensive cooking skills.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet (250 g) puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz (115 g) Brie cheese, sliced
  • 1/4 cup (40 g) dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) walnuts, toasted and chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tbsp honey (30 ml)
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • Fresh thyme leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). Properly heating the oven ensures your pastry puffs up beautifully and achieves that golden-brown color.
  2. Once the oven is preheated, retrieve your thawed puff pastry from the packaging. Carefully unfold it on a clean, lightly floured surface.
  3. Now, transfer your rolled-out puff pastry onto the lined baking sheet. In the center third of the pastry, layer the sliced Brie cheese evenly.
  4. With your ingredients in place, take your honey and drizzle it evenly over the layered items.
  5. Next, it’s time to fold the pastry over your filling! Gently bring the edges of the pastry over the toppings, tucking in the ends to seal it tightly.
  6. Take your beaten egg and use a pastry brush to coat the top of the pastry lightly.
  7. Place your assembled pastry into the preheated oven and bake for 20–22 minutes.
  8. After reaching that beautiful golden shade, remove the pastry from the oven and let it cool for 5–10 minutes.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for a couple of days; reheat in the oven for optimal texture.
