Ingredients

  • 4 cups chopped green cabbage
  • 2 cups torn kale leaves
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons coconut aminos
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Start by chopping the cabbage, kale, onion, and garlic. Having all your ingredients prepped and within reach will make the cooking process more efficient and enjoyable.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive or avocado oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the sliced onion. Sauté for about 3 to 4 minutes until they are softened and slightly browning.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Next, add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and cook undisturbed for a few minutes. Then stir occasionally for another 8 to 10 minutes until tender and golden.
  5. Once the cabbage is tender, add the torn kale leaves and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until wilted.
  6. Drizzle the coconut aminos over the veggies, season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, then mix well and cook for another 2 minutes.

Notes

Using a cast iron skillet enhances flavor and yields wonderful caramelization. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
