Description
Sloppy Joe Mac and Cheese Wraps are a delicious comfort food fusion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups cooked macaroni
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 6 large flour tortillas
- Butter or oil for grilling
Instructions
- Begin by heating the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 2–3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
- Next, add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until the meat is nicely browned. Be sure to drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine and let simmer for about 5–7 minutes.
- In a separate saucepan, add the cooked macaroni, whole milk, and shredded cheddar cheese. Heat over low, stirring continuously until the cheese melts.
- Once both components are ready, place each tortilla flat. Scoop a generous amount of the mac and cheese and a scoop of the sloppy joe filling in the center, then roll tightly.
- Heat a grill or skillet, adding a bit of butter or oil. Place the wraps seam-side down and grill until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes on each side.
- Serve hot, slicing them in half if desired.
