- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips or white candy melts
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil or shortening (for melting)
Instructions
- Start by getting your oven warmed up. Preheat it to 350°F to ensure your brownies bake evenly. Once your oven is up to temperature, prepare your 9×9-inch baking pan, either by greasing it well to prevent sticking or by lining it with parchment paper for easy removal afterward.
- Prepare the brownie mix as instructed on the packaging. These generally call for eggs, oil, and water. Mix everything well until you have a smooth batter. If you love an extra chocolatey touch, stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips now. Pour the mixed batter into your prepared pan, spreading it out evenly.
- Place your pan into the preheated oven and allow your brownies to bake for 25-30 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center. When it comes out with only a few moist crumbs or clean, the brownies are ready.
- Allow your brownies to cool completely. While they cool, melt the white chocolate chips along with the coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in short intervals and stir between each to ensure smooth, even melting. Transfer the melted white chocolate to a piping bag or a plastic bag with a small corner cut off. Pipe concentric circles over the cooled brownie surface, then use a toothpick to drag from the center to the outer edges, creating a stunning spider web effect.
- Allow the decorative chocolate to set before slicing the brownies into squares. This will help maintain the integrity of your spider web design when serving.
