Description

These Spinach Feta Cranberry Puff Pastry Christmas Trees are a delightful treat for any holiday gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 puff pastry sheets
  • 250 g fresh spinach
  • 200 g feta cheese
  • 100 g cream cheese
  • 50 g dried cranberries, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ⅛ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp cracked black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin by placing a dry skillet over medium heat. Add the fresh spinach and sauté it for about 2 to 3 minutes or until it wilts completely. Transfer the spinach to a colander to remove any excess water and let it cool before chopping it finely.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped spinach with the feta cheese, cream cheese, minced garlic, nutmeg, pepper, and dried cranberries. Mix thoroughly until you have a creamy filling.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut the pastry into long strips and slice diagonally to create triangular shapes.
  4. Starting from the base of each triangle, gently roll them up towards the tip, forming a cone-like structure. Pinch the base to secure it.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place the pastry trees upright on the sheet and brush the tops with beaten egg. Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.

Notes

Ensure to drain the spinach well; excess moisture can lead to soggy pastries. Monitor the baking time closely.
