Description

If you’re on the lookout for a delicious, protein-packed snack that’s both crispy and fulfilling, then look no further than The Best Crispy Air Fryer Tofu.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch or arrowroot powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped
  • Dipping sauce of choice

Instructions

  1. Begin by pressing the tofu for about 20–30 minutes to remove excess moisture, which is essential in achieving a crispy finish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss your cubed tofu with low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari), olive oil (or avocado oil), garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, nutritional yeast (if using), salt, and pepper. Allow the tofu to marinate for around 10–15 minutes.
  3. After marinating, sprinkle cornstarch (or arrowroot powder) over the tofu. Gently toss the tofu again to ensure it’s evenly coated.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the marinated tofu cubes in the air fryer basket.
  5. Set the air fryer to cook the tofu for 10 minutes. Afterward, shake the basket and cook for an additional 8–10 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Transfer your crispy tofu to a plate, garnish and serve alongside your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Pressing the tofu is a critical step; don’t skip it for the best results. If you’re not eating all the tofu in one sitting, store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
