Description
Deliciously crispy tater tots topped with shredded chicken, melted cheese, and vibrant toppings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package frozen tater tots
- 1/2 pound cooked chicken, shredded
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
- 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños, sliced
- 1/4 cup salsa
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by evenly spreading the frozen tater tots on a large baking sheet. Pop them into your preheated oven and allow them to bake for 20-25 minutes. The key here is achieving a golden brown, crispy exterior to serve as the perfect base for your nachos. Check them halfway through to ensure even cooking.
- While your tots are crisping up, grab a skillet and heat your tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the pre-cooked and shredded chicken, then sprinkle with garlic powder. Stir your chicken for about 5-7 minutes until it’s heated through and emits a delightful aroma. Don’t forget to season with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting for your preference.
- When your tater tots reach optimal crispness, remove them from the oven. Immediately sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the tots. Return them to the oven for another 2-3 minutes, just enough time for the cheese to melt and form a luscious layer over the tots.
- Take the baking sheet out of the oven and top your cheesy tots with the pre-prepared chicken. Finish by layering with a dollop of sour cream, sprinkling of chopped green onions, slices of pickled jalapeños, and a generous pour of salsa. For a final touch, garnish with freshly chopped cilantro before serving.
