  • Author: Alioui
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

Deliciously crispy tater tots topped with shredded chicken, melted cheese, and vibrant toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package frozen tater tots
  • 1/2 pound cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños, sliced
  • 1/4 cup salsa
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Begin by evenly spreading the frozen tater tots on a large baking sheet. Pop them into your preheated oven and allow them to bake for 20-25 minutes. The key here is achieving a golden brown, crispy exterior to serve as the perfect base for your nachos. Check them halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  2. While your tots are crisping up, grab a skillet and heat your tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the pre-cooked and shredded chicken, then sprinkle with garlic powder. Stir your chicken for about 5-7 minutes until it’s heated through and emits a delightful aroma. Don’t forget to season with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting for your preference.
  3. When your tater tots reach optimal crispness, remove them from the oven. Immediately sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the tots. Return them to the oven for another 2-3 minutes, just enough time for the cheese to melt and form a luscious layer over the tots.
  4. Take the baking sheet out of the oven and top your cheesy tots with the pre-prepared chicken. Finish by layering with a dollop of sour cream, sprinkling of chopped green onions, slices of pickled jalapeños, and a generous pour of salsa. For a final touch, garnish with freshly chopped cilantro before serving.
