Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 jalapeños, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp chopped chives
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon bits (optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Take your fresh jalapeños and slice them into thin rounds.
  3. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out your sheet of puff pastry into a rectangle.
  5. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the rolled-out puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  6. Sprinkle the sliced jalapeños and optional bacon bits evenly over the cheese mixture.
  7. Fold the puff pastry over to encase the filling; press down to seal the edges.
  8. Using a sharp knife, cut the folded pastry into 1-inch strips.
  9. Take each strip and twist it gently before placing it on the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Brush the tops of each twist with the beaten egg.
  11. Put the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 15–20 minutes.
  12. Once out of the oven, garnish with chopped chives and serve warm.

Make sure to adjust the baking time as ovens may vary in temperature.
