- 1 lb flank steak
- 3 cups cooked white rice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp Korean BBQ sauce (optional)
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade by whisking together the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. Ensure the brown sugar is dissolved.
- Slice the flank steak against the grain, coat it in the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes.
- Prepare your vegetables by slicing the cucumber and bell pepper, and shredding the carrots.
- Cook your rice using a rice cooker or stovetop according to package instructions, keeping it warm.
- Heat cooking oil in a pan and sear the marinated steak in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until browned.
- Simmer the remaining marinade in a saucepan until it thickens slightly.
- Assemble the bowls with rice, steak, and arranged vegetables, drizzling the thickened marinade over top.
- Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, adding extra Korean BBQ sauce if desired.
