Description

Indulging in a delightful treat that combines rich flavors with a fluffy texture, these scones are perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream, for brushing
  • 2 tablespoons coarse sugar, optional

Instructions

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C) and readying your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk these dry ingredients to ensure they are evenly mixed.
  3. Add the cold, cubed unsalted butter and work it into the flour until you achieve a coarse crumb texture.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Gently pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry mixture and stir until just combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of peanut butter onto the dough and scatter the chocolate chips. Fold the mixture gently to create marbled ribbons.
  7. Shape the dough into a round disk and slice into 8 wedges.
  8. Arrange the wedges on the baking sheet, brush with cream, and sprinkle with coarse sugar. Bake for 16 to 18 minutes or until golden.

Notes

Ensure your butter is as cold as possible and do not overmix the dough.
