Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 lemon, sliced for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by patting the chicken breasts dry using paper towels. Season both sides of the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and dried thyme.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter. When the butter melts, add the seasoned chicken breasts. Sear for 5 to 6 minutes until golden brown. Remove chicken from skillet.
- Reduce heat to medium and add minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds. Pour in the chicken broth, scraping the browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Add heavy cream, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, lemon zest, honey, and optional crushed red pepper flakes. Whisk to combine and let simmer for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Return chicken to skillet, spoon sauce over the top, and simmer for another 5 to 7 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Stir in remaining tablespoon of butter and garnish with parsley and lemon slices before serving.
