Description
Smoked chicken green chile burritos are a delightful way to combine rich flavors with wholesome ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups smoked chicken, shredded
- 1 (4-ounce) can diced green chiles
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup cooked white rice
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup salsa, mild or medium
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 large flour tortillas
- Cooking spray or a small amount of vegetable oil for pan
Instructions
- Begin by combining all of your filling ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Take the shredded smoked chicken, add in the diced green chiles, the shredded cheddar cheese, cooked white rice, sour cream, and salsa. Mix in the garlic powder, onion powder, and season with salt and black pepper. Stir everything until it’s well combined and each ingredient is evenly distributed.
- Next, take your flour tortillas and place them on a microwave-safe plate. Warm them in the microwave for about 20 seconds — this makes them pliable and prevents tearing when you start filling and rolling them up.
- To assemble, lay out a warm tortilla on a flat surface. Spoon the chicken mixture into the center of the tortilla, leaving enough room on the sides to fold them in. Fold the sides of the tortilla inward and then roll it tightly from the bottom to the top.
- Now, heat a large skillet over medium heat and coat it with cooking spray or a thin layer of vegetable oil. Carefully place the burritos seam-side down into the skillet. Allow them to cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until they’re golden brown and crisp to your liking.
Notes
For best results, use freshly smoked chicken for an authentic and robust flavor.
